Registration Open for the 5th Balearic Nordic Walking Cup

Athletes wishing to participate in the fifth edition of the Balearic Nordic Walking Cup, to be held next Sunday, April 19, starting at 10:00 AM in La Mola, can now register online at www.elitechip.net. The deadline is tomorrow, Wednesday, April 15, at 11:59 PM.

The course, located within the grounds of the Fortress of Isabel II in La Mola, Mahón’s port, has been certified by the federation’s technicians and adapted for Nordic walking competitions. Participants will have to complete two laps of a circuit totaling 11 km.

Alongside the official race, a non-competitive fun run will be held, which can be completed with or without Nordic walking and/or trekking poles, to allow interested individuals to experience Nordic walking in the stunning setting of La Mola. Participants in the fun run will complete one lap of a 5.5 km circuit on a surface of dirt with loose stones and asphalt.

The competition is organized into the following categories:

• Open Category: all participants aged 16 and over.
• Junior Category: 16 to 17 years old (turning 16 but not yet 18).
• Under 23 Category: 18 to 23 years old (turning 18 but not yet 24 in the year of the event).
• Senior Category: 24 to 39 years old (turning 24 but not yet 40 in the year of the event). Veteran Category A: 40 to 49 years old, turning 40 but under 50 in the reference year.
• Veteran Category B: 50 to 59 years old, turning 50 but under 60 in the reference year.
• Veteran Category C: 60 to 69 years old, turning 60 but under 70 in the reference year.
• Veteran Category D: 70 years old and over in the reference year.

Registration for the Balearic Cup costs €23 for registered athletes and €29 for non-registered athletes. For the popular race, the price is €17 for registered athletes and €24 for non-registered athletes. Race bibs will be distributed on race day from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.

The race is authorized by the Balearic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing, and therefore, accident insurance will cover all participants with a valid federation membership card. Participants without a federation membership card will have mandatory accident insurance at an additional cost to their registration fee.

The event is organized by the Menorca Military Consortium, the La Mola Fortress, and the NW Camina con Elena sports club, with the support of the Balearic Nordic Walking Committee. The race is included in the official 2026 season calendar and will count towards the 2026 Balearic Cup.
