The Maó City Council has decided to celebrate Book Day again on April 23 and the Menorca Military Consortium will be faithful to the annual appointment with its numerous publications.
It is important to remember that the health situation of last year led to the transfer of the traditional Book Festival, from April 23 to July 23. This year, with a better situation but still fighting against the pandemic, the Maó City Council, in agreement with the city’s booksellers, has considered that it is possible to set up the stands of books and flowers in Plaza Constitución, Carrer Nou and s ‘Arravaleta, on Friday April 23 all day and on Saturday 24 only in the morning.
In order to avoid crowds, the initiative has been limited exclusively to bookstores, publishing entities and florists. In total there will be about 20 participants, half compared to a normal year before the coronavirus pandemic.
The Mahón City Council will have an information and security service, with the aim of ensuring compliance with sanitary regulations and the fluidity of the public passing through the aforementioned streets.
