Maó, December 12, 2025
The Maó Nativity Scene Group has dedicated its 54th Christmas Diorama Exhibition this year to commemorating the 175th anniversary of the start of construction on the Fortress of Isabel II (La Mola), the 165th anniversary of Queen Isabel II’s visit to the island of Menorca to see the construction site, and the 150th anniversary of its completion.
The exhibition consists of 19 individual dioramas, each featuring different areas of La Mola as its backdrop, and 2 allegorical displays. It is worth noting that one of the individual dioramas was created collaboratively by the seven participants in the course organized by the Maó Nativity Scene Group.
Thus, some scenes from the life of Jesus Christ, such as “The Presentation in the Temple” and “Jesus Among the Doctors,” have been placed at the entrance to the Hornabeque and on the exterior of the Queen’s Powder Magazine, respectively.
The exhibition will open on December 16 at 8:00 p.m. in the Sant Antoni Exhibition Hall, on S’Arraval Street in Mahón, and will be open daily until January 5, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.). Admission is free.
