IB3 TV’s Imaginari program dedicated one of its slots to the legend of the White Lady of La Mola, a fictional and horror story based on real events that occurred in the Fortress of Isabel II during the Spanish Civil War.
In the northern area of La Mola fortress in Menorca, in the so-called Punta del Esperó, the ghostly legend of the White Lady was born. A story that scared for years the recruits who stood guard at the checkpoints in the area during the cold winter nights. Young people who claimed to hear the moans of the White Lady, some even said they had seen her and, frightened, fired her weapon.
The White Lady is the nickname given to the Countess Rocamari, wife of the Maó Naval Base officer, who was shot and thrown into the sea on those Esperó cliffs at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War. Legend has it that the woman agonized for days on the rocks until she died and that her ghost returned at night to scare those who were there.
