La Mola is promoted through the social networks of its own visitors

Mahón, July 31, 2024

The Military Consortium of Menorca is committed to massive, organic and free digital marketing to reinforce the tourist promotion of the Fortress of Isabel II.

This is a pioneering initiative on the Island that will be carried out with the installation of a photographic support in front of the entrance to the Hornabeque, one of the best preserved and most significant areas of the monumental complex located in La Mola.

Every year, thousands of tourists visit us and take selfies to later share them with their friends and followers on social networks. These selfies do not usually turn out well because, normally, they show the faces and arms of our visitors and the beauty of the area is not seen correctly. With a Patented TURS Photographic Support, citizens and visitors will be able to take perfect photos or selfies and, since the correct photographic framing is guaranteed, for the first time it will be possible to control and direct the image that La Fortaleza de Isabel II projects to the world through the social networks of its own visitors.

The Patented TURS Photographic Support includes a QR code that, when scanned, redirects you to a Web App that will allow visitors to find out about the social networks and the website of the Menorca Military Consortium, as well as the commerce and restaurants in the area, an agenda of activities, all the information and a multi-language audio guide of La Mola. Information can also be obtained from other TURS photographic supports, such as the one installed in the Talayotic village of Torralba d’en Salort, since they are all geolocated and interconnected.

In addition, the Consortium will have access to the TURS Big Data platform, so that it will be able to find out, through reports and graphs, the nationality of tourists, the number of visits it receives at each time of year and many other data, which will surely serve to improve and better focus future advertising and tourism promotion campaigns.

Therefore, there is no doubt that this initiative, at no cost to the Consortium because it is a donation from the company TURS take your selfie, will help improve the quality of the photographs and selfies taken at La Mola, thus improving its image and reputation on social networks.
But this is not the only novelty of the season, as La Mola has launched the Menorca-Card, a card that allows you to visit four other important monuments on the Island, with a discount of up to 23% on the price of tickets, as well as other advantages. We are talking about Torralba d’en Salort, Binissuès, El Palacio Salort and the Cathedral of Menorca.

More information on the Menorca Military Consortium website and on Menorcacard.com

The Menorca-Card can be purchased at the ticket offices in La Mola, Torralba d’en Salort and Binissuès.

It should also be noted that the Menorca Military Consortium has put out a public tender for the management of visits to La Mola with a fee of 24,000 euros per year and a period of three years, extendable for another two years.

Regarding the San Felipe Castle, the Consortium has officially requested an urban planning report from the Es Castell Town Hall to analyse the future of the monument with the aim of also putting out to tender its management.

Finally, it is worth highlighting that both monumental sites have joined the initiative for the transnational candidacy for the UNESCO World Heritage List of cities that form part of the system of Spanish fortifications in the Mediterranean (16th-19th centuries), which, in the case of Spain, is made up of the following sponsoring cities: Cartagena, Ibiza, Es Castell, Mahón, Palma de Mallorca and Tortosa.
