The author of the book “El Faro de Alejandría”, José L. Terrón Ponce, shows in one of his chapters his vision about King Carlos III and Menorca.
“Much has been speculated about Carlos III in 1988, with the celebration of the bicentenary of the death of the illustrated king. The television has even offered a series dedicated to his reign.
What has drawn my attention the most in all the occasions in which I have had the opportunity to see, hear or read something about it has been that, in most cases, and that of the television series is perhaps the most visible , everything revolved around the figure of the monarch, as if historical events had happened as a consequence, almost exclusively of his personal management.
According to this version, the King, located in the center of the scene, assisted by a multitude of ministers, architects, strategists, scientists and literati governs with success, builds, leads armies to victory, and researches and encourages reading”.
