The sixth edition of the 10/5 Miles City of Mahón will be held on May 29 at 5:00 p.m. with departure from La Mola and there are currently 80 places available. Like the previous ones, the race will feature the Port of Mahón, the largest natural port in the Mediterranean, the Isabel II Fortress and the Naval Base, which will reopen its doors to travel to Pinto Island. Upon arrival in the heart of the port, the absolute winner and winner will receive as a reward one of the most genuine treasures of this land, a batch of Mahón Cheese of ten or five kilos, depending on the race they have contested.
The 10/5 mile City of Mahón is more than a sports event, it is a race through history whose journey will take place through the historical and natural heritage of the island of Menorca, a Biosphere Reserve.
The birth of the 10/5 mile City of Mahón wants to be a nod to the British tradition that has been part of this territory, as it is presented in an unprecedented way in miles, a measure of English longitude, and not in kilometers as usual. And it is that for more than a hundred years, Menorca belonged to the British crown and as a result of this influence, close ties were forever established through culture, architecture, gastronomy or even language (there are words of English origin incorporated into Menorca).
