On the occasion of Armed Forces Day 2022, the Alaior City Council and the General Command of the Balearic Islands have organized a Flag Swearing-in for civilian personnel, the purpose of which is to allow Spaniards who, without being linked to the Armed Forces with a professional, can express their commitment to the defense of Spain, taking the oath or promise before the Flag, kissing, in this case, the Flag of the Infantry Regiment “Palma” No. 47.
The act, which has had a hundred sworn in, has been presided over by the General Commander of the Balearic Islands, Fernando Luis Gracia Herréiz, and the Mayor of Alaior, José Luis Benejam Saura, who was the first to swear the Flag, then occupying his post of honor next to the Commander General.
The formation was made up of a company from the Palma 47 Infantry Regiment, accompanied by the Music Unit of the General Headquarters Unit of the Balearic Islands General Command, a squad of spenders and a war band. The act began with the Force rendering the ordinance honors, after which the Colonel-in-Chief of the Palma 47 Regiment, Rafael Guisasola Rosique, pronounced the oath formula, beginning without pause the parade of the sworn in front of the flag, which They have made the gesture of kissing her, but without actually doing so, for health reasons.
After the oath, the mayor of Alaior spoke a few words in which he thanked the Army for its efforts to travel to Menorca and carry out this act of Swearing in the Flag. Immediately afterwards, the Commander General gave a speech in Spanish and Minorcan, during which he made a simile of the flag of Mossen Barçiola, hero of Alalior against the Turks, with the Flag of Spain sworn today.
After the tribute to the fallen for Spain, during which the laurel wreath was deposited on the monolith by the older and younger jury members, the units paraded along Avenida Verge del Toro, ending the act military.
