The Menorca Military Consortium expands lighting of the underground tunnels of the Castillo de San Felipe

The tireless work of recovering the underground tunnels of the Castillo de San Felipe, in the port of Mahón, continues its trajectory and, on this occasion, the Military Consortium of Menorca has invested in the improvement and expansion of the lighting to adapt the facilities, even more if possible, to visits from the general public.

This work has been carried out in parallel with the installation of several murals in some specific areas of the galleries, in which important details of the history of the Castillo de San Felipe are explained.

In addition, it should be noted that the rehabilitation of several canyons of the time is currently being carried out, which were recovered from a ship that sank in the mouth of the port of Mahón.

These initiatives, carried out by the Menorca Military Consortium, are part of the long-term recovery project of some of the most significant areas and elements of the Castillo de San Felipe, a monument that is the living history of Menorca, in general, and of Mahón and its port, in particular.

The schedule for the guided visits to the Castillo de San Felipe is on Sundays and holidays, at 10.30 am, during the months of November, December, January and February. The time spent on the tour of the facilities is approximately 2 hours (some sections on foot and others by car) and it is a recommended nature activity for do as a family.
