The coronavirus crisis forces the cancellation of the ICOFORT Spain – Menorca 2020 International Congress

The ICOFORT Spain – Menorca 2020 International Congress that was to be held in Menorca starting tomorrow and until Saturday, October 24, has been canceled due to the effects of the second wave caused by the coronavirus. This is the VII Fortifications Conference organized by the Association of Friends of Montjuïc Castle, whose program was about the knowledge of military landscapes and models of management and conservation of their environment and environment at the national and international level.

A total of 50 professionals from all fields related to the knowledge, valorization, management and conservation of fortified heritage had confirmed their attendance at this event, which was scheduled to address three important topics: Historical research (military architecture, territory and landscape), environmental management of military heritage and conservation and re-use (military architecture and natural environment). In addition, the program included combining communications with round tables of discussion and visits to places of interest such as the Isabel II Fortress (La Mola), the San Felipe Castle, the Marlborough Fort, the Menorca Military Museum, the Isla del Rey, the Batteries of Llucalari, etc …
