The Division General, Antonio Ruiz Benítez, director of the Institute of Military History and Culture, will inaugurate tomorrow, Tuesday, May 30, at 7:00 p.m., the new multipurpose room of the Palace of Isabel II, in Mahón.
It is a space of approximately 80 square meters, enabled with a Wi-Fi connection and a large screen. The Consortium will use this room to hold conferences, exhibitions, presentations, etc. In fact, it is planned to start shortly a series of conferences to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Consortium of the Military Museum of Menorca and Historical Military Heritage of the Port of Mahón and Cala San Esteban, specifically on June 22, 1998.
The inaugural act includes a conference on “The taking of Menorca in the context of American independence, 1782”, by the Colonel of Infantry Graduated from the General Staff, Mr. José Romero Serrano, and his counterpart, Mr. Benito Tauler Cid.
The director of the Institute of Military History and Culture has taken advantage of the trip to Menorca to visit the monuments managed by the Consortium, La Mola and the Castle of San Felipe, as well as to inspect the reform works that have been carried out in the Military Museum of Menorca, where some of its exhibition halls have also been remodelled. At all times he has been accompanied by Consortium staff.
